Is it performed under local anesthesia?
Yes, it is performed under local anesthesia. The surgery takes about 30 mins. At BeautyFix, we want you to love your results forever. To ensure this, our surgeons perform buccal fat reductions, not full removals. Removing all the buccal fat from the face will remove structural support needed overtime as you age, so leaving a portion of buccal fat in the face will allow for your results to remain flawless over time, regardless of aging or weight fluctuations. We’re here to ensure you stay slaying long-term!
What is the recovery time?
Swelling and bruising is common following the procedure. The tissue inside the mouth will typically take a week to 10 days to recover post-surgery. Get ready to sip some smoothies, because a liquid-only or semi-liquid diet may be needed as the patient heals for the first few days after the surgery. You’ll typically be able to see the full results of the procedure in 3-6 months, so you’ll be perfectly sculpted by the summer if you book your procedure in the next few weeks!
Is financing available for this procedure?
Yes, full-financing is available for this procedure. Monthly installments are as low as $89. You can use CareCredit, Alphaeon, Enhance Medical or United Medical for financing your treatment.
Note
A consultation is needed to determine if this is the right treatment for you. By coupling a customized treatment plan specifically tailored for you along with patient education, financing options and a result-oriented regimen, together you will work towards a slimmer, more contoured you.
Buccal fat are the small pads in the cheeks that give your face its fullness. The size of the buccal fat pads can be larger in some people, which can give some people a “baby-faced” appearance. While some people love their baby face, others are in search of a more contoured look, which is why a growing number of people – including some of your favorite celebrities – are turning to buccal fat removal as a method to get the chiseled cheeks of their dreams.
The procedure itself only takes 15 to 20 minutes. First, you’re numbed with a local anesthetic . Then, a small incision is made on the inside of the cheek to expose the fat pad. The exposed fat is then trimmed and removed. The incisions are then sutured up and the process is repeated on the other side. The goal is to create a more sculpted and angular appearance.
Generally, patients who have a round, chubby face with excess fat in the cheeks see the best results! It's important to have realistic expectations and understand that buccal fat reduction will not lead to significant weight loss.

PRE TREATMENT CARE
- Smoking/Drug Use: Stop smoking/vaping nicotine and marijuana products at least one month before and one month after your surgery. Smoking will interfere with healing and can lead to various post-operative complications. Any recreational drug use should also be stopped during this time.
- OTC Medications/Supplements: Stop taking Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, and ALL herbal supplements at least two weeks prior and two weeks after surgery. These medications can cause prolonged bleeding. Your surgeon may also ask you to discontinue oral contraceptives. Tylenol is safe to take before/after your procedure. Please read the attached Warning: Blood Thinning Medications sheet for a comprehensive list of all medications to avoid.
- Prescriptions: Pick your prescriptions up at the pharmacy you provided on your pre-operative intake. Please let us know in advance if you have any allergies or reactions to medications, as well as or prone to nausea especially when taking narcotic pain medication.
-
POST TREATMENT CARE
- Medication - Keep your medication at your bedside along with a notepad to help keep track of the medications you have taken and when. Expect some forgetfulness up to one week post-op and during narcotic use. We encourage you to have food in your stomach before you take your medications to minimize any nausea. DO NOT drive or drink alcohol when taking narcotic pain medication. When you feel like you can, switch from the narcotic pain medication to Tylenol. Depending on the procedure, most patients will take the prescribed pain medication for 24-48 hours before being able to switch to Tylenol.
- Compression Garment - Your garment should be worn as close to 24 hours a day as possible. Only take it off when you are showering or you need to wash it. Wearing this as directed will help reduce swelling, aid with skin retraction and even help prevent certain complications (ie; fibrosis). Your garment is made of high quality materials designed to provide the proper compression post surgery. It is important you always hand wash and hang to dry to maintain the quality of your garment. Additional garments can be purchased at the office if need be. Most patients like to have at least two on rotation. As the swelling subsides, getting a smaller garment is usually necessary. Failure to wear the proper compression post surgery may affect results. In some instances, we will recommend wearing an abdominal board.
