Buccal fat are the small pads in the cheeks that give your face its fullness. The size of the buccal fat pads can be larger in some people, which can give some people a “baby-faced” appearance. While some people love their baby face, others are in search of a more contoured look, which is why a growing number of people – including some of your favorite celebrities – are turning to buccal fat removal as a method to get the chiseled cheeks of their dreams.
The procedure itself only takes 15 to 20 minutes. First, you’re numbed with a local anesthetic . Then, a small incision is made on the inside of the cheek to expose the fat pad. The exposed fat is then trimmed and removed. The incisions are then sutured up and the process is repeated on the other side. The goal is to create a more sculpted and angular appearance.
Generally, patients who have a round, chubby face with excess fat in the cheeks see the best results! It's important to have realistic expectations and understand that buccal fat reduction will not lead to significant weight loss.
