PDO Threads
Threads at BeautyFix MedSpa are one of the most popular and highly effective non-surgical ways to lift and tighten loose, sagging skin tissues. Thread lifts are the perfect alternative to plastic surgery, offering benefits to help improve the overall skin texture and tone, resulting in youthful, healthy skin. The goal of a thread lift is to subtly lift facial features, reduce fine lines & wrinkles while encouraging collagen production to increase volume in the treated areas.
At BeautyFix, we carry two kinds of threads: PDO and Barbed. Barbed threads are longer and help to lift sagging skin while PDO threads are placed strategically to produce collagen and to encourage new growth.
What are PDO Threads?
PDO (polydioxanone) is a synthetic fiber widely used in areas of medicine such as general surgery and cardiology. In aesthetics, the threads help to lift sagging skin as well as stimulate new collagen - your own natural collagen. PDO thread lifts are used to rebuild collagen matrices. They are completely safe and will be naturally absorbed by your body and replaced by collagen and elastin. PDO threads are used to lift and contour your face without adding any extra volume. These threads help to immediately lift and tighten your skin while building collagen over time so your face and body stays snatched for years to come! This helps increase firmness and add natural volume to your skin so it stays looking and feeling youthful. Threads can help you achieve your dream contour with no scars and minimal downtime!
Another interesting effect of the threads is their ability to induce lipolysis (fat cell death) which is quite effective in treating stubborn facial and body fat areas as well as inducing collagen and tightening the skin.
What are Barbed Threads?
Barbed threads are longer and have tiny barbs or cones along their length, which allows them to grip onto the skin and soft tissue. When the threads are inserted into the skin, the barbs or cones provide a lifting effect, pulling the skin and tissue upwards and tightening it in the process. The threads also stimulate the production of collagen in the skin, which can help to further improve the appearance of the treated area over time.
Our thread lift treatments can provide the perfect BeautyFix for sagging skin in areas such as:

How is the treatment performed?
Barbed threads and PDO threads are delicately placed beneath the dermis to tighten sagging skin while promoting collagen production. Barbed Threads help lift the face while PDO threads create the matrix. Both work together to restore and rejuvenate youthful proportions and appearances to the face.

Why a Thread Lift?
Threads can help to take years off of your appearance by lifting and tightening loose, sagging skin at a fraction of the cost of invasive surgery, leaving you with a younger, more vibrant appearance.
What areas can be treated with the PDO Thread Lift?
The PDO lift can be used to enhance and improve the appearance of a sagging neck, sagging cheeks and jowls, and droopy eyebrows. We can personalize your treatment to suit your exact needs and ensure you are totally happy with the results.
Who is a perfect candidate for a Thread Lift?
A thread lift is suited to men and women between the ages of 30 and 70. The treatment is most effective on skin that has minimal sagging and offers the best results for cheeks, jowls, brows and the neck area as well as on other areas of the body where small fat deposits are found. If you are looking for results that are more effective and that last longer than Botox and other fillers, then a thread lift is the ideal choice.
If you are put off by traditional surgery or don’t want general anesthetic, then a thread lift is a great alternative, as it is minimally invasive and can be carried out under local anesthetic.
What are the advantages of a Thread Lift?
Thread lifts offer quick recovery times and excellent results. Unlike with invasive surgery, general anesthesia and hospital stays are not needed. The thread lift is also much more affordable than a regular face lift, and the results are long lasting and they leave you feeling completely snatched for years!
Is there any scarring with a Thread Lift?
This treatment requires a minimally invasive injection and leaves no scarring.
How does a Full Face Thread Lift work?
A thread lift is a type of face lift that is often referred to as the ‘lunch hour lift’. This is due to its simplicity and the time it takes to carry out the treatment. A tiny entry will be made by the ear, then fine threads are advanced along pre-marked contours. The threads are made from polydioxanone (PDO) – the same material used for medical stitches – which dissolve naturally in the body over time.
What are the risks of a Thread Lift?
No cosmetic treatment is without risk, but the level of risk is often down to the expertise and experience of the doctor carrying out your treatment. Thread lifts can cause minor side effects such as infection, bruising, swelling, tenderness, numbness and slight asymmetry.
How long does a Thread Lift take?
A typical thread lift treatment takes as little as one hour, but it depends on the number of threads the doctor uses and the areas being treated.
What happens after the treatment?
After the treatment, we will provide you with aftercare instructions to follow. Most patients experience some mild swelling and bruising, but this should settle quickly. Recovery time is usually less than one week, although strenuous exercise should be avoided for 2 to 3 weeks.
How long do the results of a Thread Lift last?
A thread lift’s lasting power depends on the age of the patient at the time of treatment and how much sagging the thread lift has corrected. It should be noted that sagging will return over time, but many doctors report that the results last for anything between 2 and 3 years. To extend the results, it is possible to have additional threads inserted and your doctor can advise you when this is required.
